New study courses for Erasmus diplomats!

ULFSS’ master degree programme “Diplomacy” presents two new courses in English.
Programme “Diplomacy” offers to specialize in international relations and permanently complements the list of the courses with the most timely knowledge that would be useful in work.

“American Foreign Policy: Past, Present, Future”

This course offers an in-depth analysis of ideas and grand strategies underpinning the IS foreign policy. The course also looks at how these ideas and grand strategies shape and influence US relations with a number of its key allies and partners in various reģions of the world. The empirical part of the course mainly focuses on US foreign policy towards Russia, China, and a number of Middle Eastern countries and how these countries respond to shifts in US grand strategies.

“International relations and media”

This course focuses on the increasing significance of mass media in international relations and pays particular attention to how mass media can be used as an instrument of influence in foreign policy. The course also looks at the importance of information and informed public debate, as well as disinformation and propaganda as instruments that can be used to attain foreign policy aims. The practical part of the course mainly focuses on how mass media are used for foreign policy purposes in Central and Eastern Europe where Western and Russia information spaces have collided in recent years.
