Social Memory Research Centre

Social Memory Research Center is an interdisciplinary research unit of the Advanced Social and Political Research Institute (ASPRI) of the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Latvia. The center examines social memory and identity issues, as well as different representation of the past in the current context, politics of memory and history.

Objectives of the Social Memory Research Center:

  • Promotion of interdisciplinary social memory research at the University of Latvia and integration of the results in the academic sphere and study process, as well as communication of the research results to the society
  • Development of different research perspectives (social, humanitarian, natural and exact sciences) in the context of social memory research
  • Strengthening and development of the social memory research profiles in the academic sphere of Latvia
  • Integration of the Latvia’s social memory research activities in the international social memory research level, promotion of the international collaboration
  • Supporting the young scientists during the integration process in the international academic sphere
