The eighth edition of Riga Summer School 2018, a University of Latvia Faculty of Social Sciences practical program for international students, concludes today with premieres of social media videos about their experiences in Riga during Latvia’s centennial year.
The focus of Riga Summer School this year was content production for digital channels and social media. In the upcoming weeks the student works will be displayed on Riga Summer School Facebook page.
The international students have enjoyed the summer school experience, which combines both theoretical and practical aspects of producing for digital channels and social media. “The location is amazing, the curriculum theory part is useful to our field of study. I am now ready to start editing, and I feel that I have learned a ton of worthwhile skills. Participation in the summer school is worth the investment,” says one of the participants, Dante Viscarra, representing Bolivia and the United States.
The summer school welcomed participants from India, Denmark, China, Germany, Taiwan, Russia, the Netherlands, USA, Bolivia, Italy and Latvia. It took place from August 6 – 17 at the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of Latvia, and featured lectures on various aspects of digital storytelling by Dr. Viktors Freibergs, Dr. Līva Brice, Dr. Marita Zitmane, Lolita Stašāne, Kaspars Rūklis. The participants will produced audiovisual social media clips under the guidance of instructor Roberts Vīksne.
