More and more students choose to do their final study works in cognitive sciences thanks to professor of FSS Jurģis Šķilters. He is well known in Latvia and internationally as the researcher, visiting professor and the director of several local and international projects and institutions.

Also he is supervising the editing of the Yearbook.

Each issue of the Yearbook is thematic. Among the themes it will seek to explore are issues in formal logic, computer sciences and AI-research, communication sciences, philosophy, psychology, linguistics, and the theories of cognitive and information processing systems as well as the history and development of these disciplines.

The Yearbook is edited by leading American and European speciālists working in some of the areas of Cognitive Sciences. Each issue of the Yearbook is supervised by a guest editor. It is aimed but not limited to academic audiences. It will be of interest to students and researchers in the field of cognitive sciences as well as in connected disciplines such as philosophy, psychology, computer sciences and linguistics. It is available at no cost, without license or subscription.

For last 10 years Jurģis Šķilters has worked in 3 directions:

  • The perception of the space - how we percept and use the space depending on our whereabouts and the way of resettlement.
  • Visual perception – how we evaluate different pictures in different situations.
  • Analog and digital channels of communication – how they engage in different communities.
